Instituted: 6 June 1981.

Awarded: For twenty years of service to the state by members of the National People's Army and the Army of National Liberation. After 1990, it was also awarded to officers of the armed forces for twenty years of service and to holders of the Medal of the Wounded with the Army Citation after fifteen years of service.
