Instituted: 16 January 1915 by King Constantine I.
Discontinued by the state in 1973 and replaced by the Order of Honour, but continues as a dynastic order of the former Greek royal family.

Awarded: To those who had distinguished themselves for the cause of the nation.

Grades: 5, in military and civil divisions, plus a medal in 3 classes.
