Ribbon: Red with dark blue edges.

Instituted: 23 March 1809.

Awarded: To Spanish troops who had been fighting for the French in Denmark under Bernadotte since 1807. When they heard that Bonaparte had overthrown King Charles IV of Spain and was attempting to replace him with his brother Joseph Bonaparte some mutinied and were imprisoned whilst others fled either to England or back home to Spain where they engaged the French forces fighting there.
