The collar, mantle and hat are worn at ceremonies of the Order in St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh. On formal occasions, members of the Order wear the badge, on a sash worn over the left shoulder, and the star. The ribbon is not worn on those occasions when ribbons only are worn.
