Instituted: 1907, based on a Royal Warrant of 24 May 1894 establishing Dominion & Colonial issues of the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
Discontinued: 18 June 1942, being replaced by the Distinguished Conduct Medal

Awarded: For distinguished conduct in the field by members of the King's African Rifles.
