Instituted: April 1920.

Awarded: To those serving with the Territorial Forces on 4 August 1914 (or who had completed 4 years' service prior to that date and re-enlisted by the end of September that year) and served overseas during the course of WW1. Those who qualified for the 1915 or 1914-15 Star did not receive this medal as well.
