United Kingdom: Meritorious Service Medal

Ribbon: Originally plain maroon, white edges were added in 1916, and a narrow white central stripe in 1917.

Instituted: 19 December 1845.

Awarded: To Warrant Officers and senior NCOs of the Army for long and meritorious service. From 1977 it could be awarded to members of any of the Armed Forces.
