Ribbon: Maroon with white edges.

Instituted: 23 September 1930, replacing the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and the Permanent Forces of the Empire Beyond the Seas Medal.

Awarded: To regular other ranks of the British Army and those of all Permanent Forces of the British Empire for 18 years service and good conduct until 1977, when it was reduced to 15 years sevice.
