United Kingdom: Hong Kong Plague Medal 1894Ribbon: Red with a double yellow edge stripe. Instituted: 1894 by the community of Hong Kong. Awarded: To those who volunteered their help during a serious outbreak of bubonic plague in the Colony, May-September 1894. Military recipients were not permitted wear it in uniform. Grades: 2 (Gold and Silver Medals). The Gold Medal was awarded to senior individuals, the rest received the Silver Medal.
