Ribbon: Dark red with narrow blue, yellow, and red edges.

Instituted: 3 June 1959.
Discontinued: 1989.

Awarded: initially to the participants in the coup d'état of 23 August 1944 and subsequently to military and civilian personnel, Romanian and foreign, for achievements in the scientific or political field, for military training, for administrative and organizational activities, for courage in battle, as well as for services to the working class.
