Discontinued: 23 September 1930, being replaced by the Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct (Military).

Awarded: To those serving in the ranks of the British Army for 21 (infantry) or 24 (cavalry) years of service, reduced in 1870 to 18 years in any part of the army.
