The Prologue

Find out from the characters what they are doing during the evening, starting from about 6 or 7pm.

At precisely 10.06pm, church bells are heard. This occurs all over the city and will be noticeable wherever the characters are.

The UNOSIR local liaison, Dmitri Alexandrovich Bondarenko, has no idea what is going on. It is not a particular festival day in the Russian Orthodox calendar.

A visit to any church will reveal that nobody actually rang the bells. Priests will be searching their belfries, praying, consulting with their colleagues or just looking plain worried.
